but notably i DIDN’T make that post i don’t think i even mentioned bound prince at all recently but in the hubbub anon either got confused or just decided to see what my initial reaction would be to those two words next to each other and so here it is:
You all need to go and read Jaye’s original tags on this because they are A++ accurate.
If L/Light is a pairing you’re into and it hits your kinks, you might like Bound Prince. If it’s not and doesn’t, you might still find it incredibly amusing and hilarious, because it’s just very, very strange. The premise is that Light loses a bet, but the debt he pays is over the top in the way that only a lengthy hard yaoi VN or long-form humiliation-fetish porn can be. I couldn’t really give you a content warning except to say: yes, there is Content. Quite a lot of a number of different kinds of Content.
Some of the art is gen and very nice; some of it is smutty and well-executed. Some of it is smutty and well-executed and weird. Showing it to friends who have never seen it before (and who know what they’re going to be seeing) can be entertaining, because they tend to be unprepared even if they’re aware of the gist of it ahead of time.
All that said, “soulless” and “depressing” also fit. I find those terms accurate while also finding it hilarious, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the people who find it really hot also find it to be a little bit of a downer in places, partly because of what’s happening, partly because of some implications made in the story.
The pacing is also terrible.
Recommended if it sounds like the kind of thing you might enjoy. It’s hard to quantify and occasionally bewildering, partly because of the extreme dichotomy of mood.
